The n2nfs repeater 145.190 pl 123.0
Hello everybody.
On this page you will find information about the N2NFS repeater.
The Frequency is 145.190 -0.6 Mhz PL Tone 123.0
Location
The repeater is located just outside of Deposit, NY in the town of Sanford. The site is high in the foot hills of the beautiful Catskill Mountains. The tower is a freestanding 195 foot tower with our antenna mounted at 150 ft.
The Mode
After toying with the idea of just putting up another underutilized FM repeater, I have decided to put up a mixed mode repeater. There are many modes to choose from. Of these I decided on C4FM. Yaesu's System Fusion while maintaining backwards compatibility with existing Analog FM Equipment it will automatically switch to C4FM. It automatically switches to match the received mode.
What is c4fm?
C4FM is a digital voice technology that offers superior performance in environments where noise and other interference can degrade a standard analog FM signal. This mode has gained some popularity in the southern tier of New York and Pennsylvania. There is a group of local repeater owners who have linked their systems together with the use of Yaesu's WIRES-X (Wide-Coverage Internet Repeater Enhancement System). As of this writing the 145.190 repeater has been on the air 1 year. The plan is to join it to the Southern Tier Fusion Network. Through this Network of repeaters it is currently possible to stay in the network on a drive from Binghamton to Corning, NY. Once I join the network it should extend this as far east as Hancock, NY.
Coverage
The N2NFS repeater has a Substantial footprint in Broome and Delaware counties of New York as well as Susquehanna and Wayne counties in Pennsylvania.
